"Living Sculptures" is the title of an experimental exhibition concept that first took place in 2021,  presenting ten curated indoor plants from various households.

the plants are arranged as sculptures on plinths in a white cube, playing with the language of exhibition spaces.  Each of the plants stands out through their extraordinary adaption to their environment. its current appearance is caused by its dependence as a houseplant on the people who keep it. Among other things, us humans determine where the plant is placed, how much water the plant receives, whether it is given fertiliser, climbing aids or is being pruned. Through this Set of given circumstances the plant finds its way to its  appearance, and the human caretaker could through this be seen as the initiator, the sculpturor, that caused the plant to it's current form.

"Kalanchoe 8" can be seen as an homage, extension and revisit of the concept of "Living Sculptures", arranged first for the exhibition (cc:) at Deutsches Foto Institut in summer 2024.

To be seen is one of the original plants from the first exhibition of living sculptures back in 2021. The plant, a Kalanchoe, is placed again on a plinth and paired with a documentation of the same from three years ago. The photograph is printed on transparent paper, with colors that will slowly vanish, as well as the past and current appearance of the plant.
